Heather Dawson completed her specialist training in pathology in Bern and Lucerne. After her residency, she spent 12 months in research and diagnostics with the group of Prof. Robert Riddell (Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada). Since her return, Heather Dawson has been working as head of the dermatopathology group. In addition, she has been acting as Medical Director of the Laboratory for Histological Diagnostics since 2019 and, as Senior Physician, head of the in Bone and Soft Tissue pathology and deputy head of the Gastrointestinal Pathology group since 2020. Besides histology, she is also active in molecular pathology diagnostics. Her research focus is the investigation and use of prognostic biomarkers in the diagnosis of colorectal carcinoma. Heather Dawson has also been President of the Swiss Section of the International Academy of Pathology (IAP) since 2017.
