After studying human medicine in Munich with training stays at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Johannesburg and at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, pathology training at Würzburg and Bern followed, with specialization in hepato-pancreato-biliary, head and neck, breast, pulmonary and neuropathology. Since 2017, Dr. med. M. Wartenberg is working as staff pathologist at the Institute of Tissue Medicine and Pathology, University of Bern; research collaborations in particular concern the tumor microenvironment in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5378-3825
